My Best Beloved Friend!!

  • Jan. 3rd, 2009 at 11:57 PM

I want everyone to know how much I adore my dearest Niamh! I cannot express just how thankful and happy I am to know her! I have been wanting a friend for so long who shared my passion for historical costuming (among other things) who also lived near me (very near me in fact! What is it, two blocks??) and my wish has been granted. I know we have many happy years ahead of us, full of sewing and traveling and tea-taking!

She has gifted me with the organdy fabric I had been craving, as well as a gigantic Civil War book which I shall attack once my homework is finished! I've finally decided on the style for my new sheer dress, now that I've got documentation of it.

Ta-da!

A high-necked, short-sleeved sheer! Although, I'll need to make long baste-in sleeves to make it Athenaeum appropriate...

Hehe! I can't wait to make it! Hopefully it'll be done in time for Knott's, although that event is in February so, weather-permitting I can wear it. I'm already planning to wear my Swiss-waist combo then too. We'll see! There's a slew of spring and summer events just over the horizon!

That's so pretty. I wish I could start my sheer dress, but I have other projects that need to be worked on first. Stop.

Thats such a pretty dress! and my friend savannah asked someone and they said they would look into the historical accuracy of short sleeved dresses so theres still a hope we might get to wear them! :)

oh that's great news! hopefully when they DO research it, they'll see it's perfectly accurate, if not MORE accurate for girls to wear short sleeves and wide necklines!!

That dress is awesome!!!! I'm to young to go to the Athenaeum, but its ounds so awesome. Every since Nona went I've been wanting to go. Its sad they won't let girls wear short sleeve and open neck dresses.
