Thinking on Screen

  • Jul. 7th, 2008 at 10:24 AM

I've got Costume College whirling around in my brain...

I have no idea what to wear Friday. I don't have anything that I'm really proud of that I'm not already wearing Saturday (1870s) or Sunday (the project of which I'm about to tell you!). I could wear the gold robe a l'anglaise, but it's made from a synthetic material and that seems really bad to me (which asks the question: am I EVER going to wear it?), likewise the pink and gold Regency gown. Lovely dress, but synthetic material. I could wear my white Regency, but I'd have to practically remake the bodice because it's falling apart. There's also the Jane Eyre dress, but I still have to draft the sleeves which makes me cringe... But I definitely do not have time to make a second new dress before Costume College; at least, I don't think I do. *facepalm*

I'll put on the anglaise and see how I feel...

Oh! Here's what I want to make for the Sunday Tea:

It looks terribly easy, and I'll probably only do one row of ruching on the skirt to save on fabric. I don't have a hat for it though... Gotta do something about that...

I also really want a new Civil War ball gown. Not crazy about the one I just finished and I can't stand the pink one. It's gotta be white so it can be worn for the Athenaeum School next year (I AM going!). I'm thinking of doing it in a white silk organdy or similar, and then making a white under-dress that I can switch out for a colored one after the school. Similar to what I did with my pink dress. I also need a mourning dress...  Oi vey...

Bonjour tout le monde!

Well, well, here I am on LiveJournal at long last! Please bear with me as I get a feel for the website. It'll take some getting used to after a year of Myspace hehe! I'm still debating with myself as to whether or not I should put up all my old diary entries, or start over. The only problem is, I am pretty much broke right now, with no hope of getting new fabric for a very long time! That, and school started today, which means not only do I have no money, but I have no time to sew!

Come to think of it, there is a complete laundry list of dresses that need fixing: hems and bodices to be shortened, tears to be patched... and there's that second bodice I've been wanting to make for my cream moire dress....

Alright! I shall cease with my complaining! There's plenty to be done, just nothing new per se. Still, you know what they say about idle hands...
