Got back from London this evening and... I'm in rapture!
Pictures and such tomorrow, I promise. It was truly an amazing 10 days (except for when I got the flu on my birthday haha). And... I bought fabric there!!!! And loads of lace!
Now... to read almost an entire book tomorrow for school... :-P

Or anyone acclimated to cold weather!
As a general rule, I only wear skirts. Which isn't normally a problem because, well, I live in Southern California, land of perennial sun. I'm planning on stocking up on stockings (wow, I totally didn't plan that!) but... am I going to be okay? I've braved a week in Washington DC at the same time of year with this skirt-stocking combo, but it happened to be unusually "warm" and in the 50s most days. My travel booklet (provided by my tour company) says the temperature can be anywhere from 38-66 degrees F. Yikes!
Well, I just got smart and checked the weather online. I'm looking at 50s during the day, and 40s-30s in the evenings. I think I'll be alright! Except in the evenings when I was planning to go clubbing---I mean, taking in London's exciting nightlife... So if things stay about that over the next 2 weeks, I can retain my smashing sense of style and not freeze to death. I have a really splendid purple wool coat that I'm excited to wear.

Or rather, I can make one! I messed with some Butterick vintage patterns and put together this dress and jacket for London. This was quite fun, and quick! I'm still not done yet; just finishing edges, facings, and zippers.
The bodice and jacket are faux linen, much prettier in real life because it has a subtle sheen to it. The skirt is a plaid knit that didn't turn up in the photos too well. The collar is a vintage dark brown rabbit fur collar that my grandmother gave me. I'm glad I can put it to good use! The patterns are from the 50s, but this came out a little more 60s. Oh well, it's cute and that's all I care about!
